49th Anniversary MLK’s Speech

On Monday, April 4th, there will be a meeting of numerous peace activists from various organizations, at the Detroit Central United Methodist Church on the corner of E. Adams and Woodward at 7 p.m. (free parking).

There will be a reading of Dr. King’s speech, “Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence”, in which he provides a diagnosis and a cure- ” a true revolution of values”-for society’s illness of “the giant triplets of racism, extreme materialism, and militarism.”

After the reading of the speech, there will be a reception at Swords into Plowshares Peace Center and Gallery.  I would like to invite members of  The Zeitgeist Movement to attend the event in order to build alliances with like-minded organizations.  This will be a good opportunity to pass out literature and to discuss how TZM also plans on addressing our society’s illnesses, including racism, exteme materialism and militarism.
